IMG_8365 IMG_8347 One of the hottest trends in the world of fitness and exercise right now is suspension training.    A popular brand of equipment associated with suspension training is the TRX straps.  I love suspension training for a multitude of reasons… but I will get to those later.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with suspension training, let me describe it.  Basically, suspension training refers to a system of ropes, straps and sometimes webbing that is used along with your own body weight to create a resistance workout.  In my fitness center, we use TRX straps.  They are so versatile because you can work any body part using the straps and you can even do cardio.  Now to those benefits I was referring to before:  Some of the benefits of TRX straps (or any type of suspension training system you might purchases) are:

  • ·         They improve balance, coordination, muscle strength, and muscular endurance
  • ·         They are relatively inexpensive to buy compared to other pieces of fitness equipment
  • ·         They are appropriate for all ages included the elderly and children
  • ·         They can either target specific muscle groups or be used for multiple muscle groups
  • ·         They improve power
  • ·         They can be taken with you while you travel
  • ·         They are easy to set up and don’t take up much room when being stored
  • ·         They can be used to increase flexibility
  • ·         They can be used for many different exercises and stretches so you won’t get bored
  • ·         They can be used to lower body fat, increase cardio fitness, and help with weight loss


If you have never tried suspension training, you are long overdue. They are amazing!
